Subject: 2002 Retrospective
Larry wants me to take a quick look back at my 61 reviews of 2002 to give a retrospective of the entire year.
So I choose "Jekyll & Hyde" at Theatre by
the Sea as the best show of this year. All the elements of a well scripted
and well rehearsed show came through in a most outstanding way.
I also choose
the set changes at the Orpheum Theatre in Foxboro for a word of praise. The
easily moved sets and set pieces reminded me of the ease which a Broadway
show set changes are made.
On a personal note, I directed "Lost in
Yonkers" in February for Academy Players. It was one of my favorite shows
because of a fantastic script with an excellent cast and crew.
I also had fun
playing a comic lawyer in "Lonestar Love Potion" in Newport and directing my
first murder mystery for WHODUNNIT. The next show I tackled, "God's Favorite"
is still running(Nov.22-Dec.31) and will continue (Feb. 7-Mar. 9) for a total
of 70 performances in Newport. Thank goodness directors don't have to be at
all performances.
As this very busy year closes, I am currently in rehearsal
for the role of Wilson in "Harvey" for Academy Players which opens
Valentine's Day of 2003.
I look forward to many more reviews in the coming
year with the first two already scheduled for Jan. 10 & 11. So get ready
Larry, the new reviews will be coming your way very soon. Happy New Year to
one & all.
Tony Annicone
