Charity Valentine is a dance hall hostess. She dreams of finding love and romance with the right guy. Poor Charity always ends up with Mr. Wrong. The play is set in a sleezy dance hall, where an array of customers file in and out. The girls line up for the customers inspection, disliking each of the men, but trying to be alluring , to make money.

While taking a walk, Charity runs into Vittorio, a foreign film star. Vittorio is having a battle with his girl friend out side of the Pompeii Club. Charity ends up going into the club with Vittorio, then to his apartment. She throws herself at him, but soon realizes he is carrying a torch for Ursula. A funny scene develops when Ursula shows up, and Charity is relegated to the closet. She stays there until morning while the lovers are making up. Back to the dance hall to tell her girl friends all about it. Charity ventures out again, going to the Y.M.C.A. to take classes to improve herself. She meets Oscar in the elevator, gets stuck in the elevator with Oscar who is afraid of close areas. On getting out, they date, now getting stuck on a Ferris Wheel , Charity is afraid of heights. The two of them fall in love, and make plans to get married. Just When everything seems to be coming together for Charity, a jealous Oscar chickens out and calls it all off. Charity is alone again, the tough luck kid of the world., sad ending.

The memorable songs are " If My Friends Could See Me Now ", "Where Am I Going", "You Should See Yourself ", sung by Charity. A terrific number, " Theres Gotta Be Something Better ", Charity, Nickie and Helene. " Baby Build Your Dream ", Nickie and Helene.

The show moves at a fast clip, even the scene changes are smooth. Barbara does a wonderful directing job. I have to compliment the lovely Kellie and Pam . They came very close to stealing the show with their banter, looks and voices. Pretty good dancers also. Both girls are leading lady caliber.

Charity should be kind of hard looking and tough acting. Aimee is such a pretty, charming and talented girl, it is difficult to believe the men in her life would use and abuse her. I bet a nickel or two that her real life significant other is a nice guy who cares for her.
