Footlights Rep's autumn show is "Nana's Naughty Knickers", a two act farce by Kathy DiSavino. Bridget and her grandmother are about to become roommates. However, what Bridget saw as an unique opportunity to stay with her favorite Nana in New York for the summer quickly turns into an experience she'll never forget. It seems her sweet grandmother is running an illegal boutique from her apartment, selling hand-made naughty knickers to every citizen in the five borough area. Will Bridget be able to handle all the excitement? Will her Nana get arrested, or worse, evicted? Director Jeff Bellanger infuses his cast with the high energy to make this farce come to life. His expertise leaves the audience laughing merrily all night long.

Jeff provides some clever shtick for them to perform. The hot pink set is fantastic and appropriate for the naughty situations. Also funny are the comical costumes strewn around the apartment, hidden in secret places by a bootlegger who lived there in the 1930's. Stage manager Diane Durand and the backstage ninja's Jenny Fleming and Luz Nunes keep things moving smoothly all night long. Cathy Taitz as Nana, Sylvia, is feisty and funny. She captures the madcap antics of this character wonderfully, making the audience laugh out loud. Nana likes to make sure everyone's face is clean by smudging their cheek with her fingers and she takes Vera on these death marches. Their modeling of the outfits is a hoot. Sarah DeMoranville plays the manic granddaughter, Bridget. Her reactions to her Nana's business dealings are funny. The costume with the tassels that doesn't fit her is hysterical. Janice MacDonald is a hoot as Vera. She has malfunctioning hearing aids so she misunderstands what is being said to her leading to comic situations. Janice steals many a scene and has many one liners that she makes hit pay dirt. One of her funny lines is when she misunderstands Sylvia saying she is making lingerie for a living for making lasagne for Thanksgiving. Some of her funniest moments are stuffing her socks down Bridget's outfit, she nicks a BMW with Sarah's car, she grabs Tom's ass and she and Cathy sing "One" as they model their lingerie.

Janet Silviera Maynard plays Heather Van Pree, Southern gal. She has a very funny scene where she is looking for her boxes because she works as Saucy Lips and received Sylvia's boxes by mistake. Joel Ward as Tom the cop is tall, dark and handsome. He shows up to help Bridget move into her grandmother's apartment and to warn her to move her doubled parked car on the street. His reactions to the craziness around him is wonderful to behold. Tom eventually sweeps Bridget off her feet. Chris Mac plays the mean German landlord, Schmit who wants to take Nana's rent controlled apartment away from her. He reminds you of a mean Wilfred Grimley. However this mean man gets his comeuppance. Chris and Joel also play the UPS men oogling the woman in their scanties while they deliver the boxes. Sue Nedar plays the mysterious woman, Claire who enables a solution for the mixed up antics. The show has many comic twists and turns that have to be seen to be believed. So for a funny new farce, be sure to catch "Nana's Naughty Knickers" at Footlights Rep before time runs out.
