The Little Theatre of Fall River's newest show is the uproarious musical comedy, "Forbidden Broadway" at the Firebarn Theatre. According to director/musical director Bobby Perry, " can expect to see 'spoofs' of all your favorite characters and shows including Carol Channing, Liza Minnelli, Les Miz, Spamalot, Chicago, Rent, Wicked, Annie, Phantom, Hairspray, Fiddler and much more. It's singing, dancing and lots of laughs. When was the last time you saw a senior citizen playing Little Orphan Annie -- chain smoking?" The songs are done tongue in check and the lyric changes to them are hilariously funny. Bobby not only directs and musically directs the show but also plays the keyboards, too. The harmonies in the group numbers are spectacular. He also gives each member of his seven person cast their moment to shine in this high energy musical entertainment. He did a fantastic job on this terrific musical treat for a very appreciative audience.

The seven cast members are Allison Beauregard, Sarah DeMoranville, Tony Ferreira, Anthony and Lisa Huntington, Dee Kullander and Nishan Ian Lawton. I will name some of their solo selections. Allison channels Chita Rivera in "America, Little Cosette, Mamma, Mia and "Dancing Queen", "The Song That Goes Like This" and Tracy in "You Can't Stop the Camp" while Sarah channels Bebe Neuwirth in "Glossy Fosse", Rita Moreno in "America", C'est Magnifique" and "On My Phone" for Les Miz, "Dancing Queen" and as Elle in "You Can't Stop the Camp." Tony is a hoot in "It's Too High" as Valjean, "I Enjoy Being a Cat'', "Ambition" as Tevye and as the second Edna (John Travolta) in "You Can't Stop the Camp." His fake boobs are worth the price of admission.

Anthony does Billy Flynn in "Both Reached for the Gun", "Into the Words" as Sondheim, "Recitative" from Les Miz, "Mucous of the Night" Phantom duet with Ethel Merman, "Rant" with Nishan and "The Song That Goes Like This" with Allison and "You Can't Stop the Camp" as Harvey Fierstein as Edna. Lisa's voice soars as Idina in "Defying Subtlety", "I Dreamed a Show", as Fantine, "You're Just in Love" as Ethel Merman, "Back to Broadway" as Barbra Streisand and "What I Did for Laughs" from "Chorus Line." Dee is a hoot as Annie in "Tomorrow" with a cigarette in her mouth, Carol Channing in "Dolly is A Girl's Best Friend" and "Liza One Note" where she interacts with the audience after supposedly snorting coke. Nishan's numbers include "Somewhat Overindulgent" (Over the Rainbow) as Mandy Patinkin, "Rant" with Anthony and "Spamalot." The group numbers include "Forbidden Broadway", "Did You Hear the People Sing", "Seasons of Hype", "Ambition" and "Climb Every Mountain" which closes the show with a very high C from Allison. So for a rip roaring good time, be sure to catch "Forbidden Broadway" at Little Theatre, you will laugh hysterically all night long.
