THE BEST LTTLE WHOREHOUSE IN TEXAS has relocated to Newton through March 15th! Not to worry. It’s only the musical, the one that celebrates the infamous “chicken ranch” which offered live “chicks” for over six decades…until it was shut down in l973. Now this may not be your cup of tea. It’s more like a big old shot of whiskey than a nice, soothing cup of Oolong but that’s show biz.

The Turtle Lane production has some nice perks, namely David DeCosta as the handsome sheriff with the soft spot for sexy Madam Mona (Rebecca Shor) and Angela Foley as the down to earth waitress with dreams. Hilarious, too, is director James Tallach and designer John MacKenzie’s flickering, mock historical B&W film (with cameos by Anita Brockney as the original madam and MacKenzie as the farmer bartering for services). The rousing choreography (by Karen Foley) is boot stomping fun, with Donald Gregorio showing off his fabulous footwork to the hard driving Country Western rhythm.
