If you’ve never been to the Weston Friendly Society, now’s the time. Their FUNNY THING [that] HAPPENED ON THE WAY TO THE FORUM is the silliest version of the musical I’ve seen so far. Director Jerry Bisantz knows his way around Rome and all roads lead to mayhem. Never has a rubber chicken done so much for so many. I laughed so hard I got leg cramps. Need I say more? OK. Here’s another reason to go. Miles Hutton Jacoby is headed for Broadway for sure, so see him now. His Hero and Nicole Coelho’s Philia could melt butter in Barbra Streissand’s mouth, they’re so sweet together. (I think FORUM dementia is contagious.) Wayne Fritsche is hysterical in and out of drag (not that Corey Jackson isn’t, too) and Craig Howard kills as Pseudolus, the slave who’ll do anything to be free. Lonnie Powell is such a glorious Gloriosus, you wished he had arrived earlier. The laughs are shameless, and they’re supposed to be. If you’re in need of some nonsense, you could do worse.
