Company One’s ARTiculation is a hurly-burly, hip hoppin’, fast talkin’, be-boppin’, non-stoppin’ slice of right on. ARTiculation is street theater on the avenue (@ Boston Playwrights Theatre on Comm Ave to be exact---through Jan 24th). It’s soaring dialogue set to the rhythms of life. It’s the power of art to transform. “It’s me, it’s you, it’s us,” they echo back and forth.
DJ Reazon plays the turntable like a Strad, sampling the music we live by, laying down the beat which ripples under the stream of stories and lyrics that light up the stage. Conceived by Troy Bullock, written by the performers (past and present) and directed in this savvy incarnation by Lois Roach, ARTiculation has all the excitement of a happening and the grit of a choreopoem like FOR COLORED GIRLS… Don’t miss this vibrant take on sex, politics and oh yeah, good old rock ‘n roll
